WARNING: CHILD RELATED POST (but totes worth reading it)

Brand new discovery! (pretty much all things kids are a brand new discovery for me though) This dressing your child is a big deal these days, I never knew how much was out there. My impending child's wardrobe is literally better than mine at this stage, think trench coats and breton stripes from paris, Missoni and Hermes towels, Marc Jacobs hats and booties and a plethora of gorgeous grey denim and stripes (plus some insane pony hair leopard print shoes, ahem Alice, boys can wear leopard right?) All those gorgeous goodies are what I've been given as gifts, meaning I haven't had to do that much shopping so I haven't been fully indoctrinated into the kids shopping which is very dangerous in the online world (ahem Zoie) Browsing the net, and a helpful link from SIL Alice, led me to Hunter & Harper (names de jour, non?) these are clothes I'm willing to start my kids shopping voyage with. I immediately fell for the stripe Goat Milk onesie of course, it is literally the softest organic cotton I have ever felt, if they made these in adult I would have bought 10 (tops that is), then you begin to think about bedding, toys, throws etc. and luckily H&H have that base covered too. I was lucky enough to walk away with this gorgeous Flink striped crib sheet in slate, the perfect neutral, 100% organic cotton and 220 thread count. The goodies come delivered in chic, recyclable little boxes all gorgeously wrapped. I am quickly learning that the modern mumma wants things that are 'safe' for their kids and this extends to clothes, no yucky chemicals etc. are used and the girls have done the hard yards to source the most eco-friendly product, this means less work for me - YAY! 1 new issue of adore out now

The new issue of Adore Home Magazine came out last Friday, it's the family issue and features a shoot Han and I did at the home of Little Dwellings in Sydney (that's her on the cover) and my nursery, it's also full of other lovely swoony product to add to the virtual cart, go give it a read!

Sorry for the grainy pic, promise the nice nursery shots are coming soon with the new issue of Adore :) I was devastated that my custom Etsy decal did not arrive until the Monday after our Saturday shoot for the nursery (sods law) so you will have to trust me that it looks really good in situ. I desperately wanted a neon sign for the room but it's too costly to make a quick decision, my compromise was the decal from Etsy seller Decal Chic, they do any word any colour any size, amazing! I had to make do and switch things up for the shoot which I still think turned out beautifully it just wasn't completely done (is a room ever completely done though?) The leather skate deck was a gift from my clever friends and they make to order if you are interested let me know! So in reality, the change pad will sit on top of the drawers and the deck will be lounging elsewhere probably being tripped over each night in my groggy state. I had to restrain myself with the white toys, I have a bazillion of them and didn't want to overwhelm the poor dresser, and how good are my drawer handles? Little ebony panther heads, so in love. There are no words for this bedroom of Miranda Skoczek via The Design Files. The Leila Jeffries photograph, the Moroccan wedding blanket and THAT GOLD URN. How lucky is this lady to have found said urn and how genius of her to have it as a bedside WHATEVER. There's more insanity for your viewing pleasure on TDF if you want to go look. She makes me want Fornasetti real bad.

This diabolical bowl is at Becker Minty right now and I'm having seriously impure thoughts about it. Then I remember I'm having a baby and maybe it's not right to spend that much on a decorative object. Then I think about going to West Elm to satisfy my need with a little accoutrement but really nothing fills a Kelly Wearstler void does it...

So back to the baby, Han and I shot it last weekend, it's a small room so hard to capture it well. I don't want that much fuss in there, all the nurseries I have seen that I have fallen for have been quite minimal, and let's be honest, I'm decorating for me really not the baby. Everything I'm buying I would have bought without being preggers, is that selfish? Hold on here, maybe the baby needs a Kelly Wearstler stone checker dish? A bit of a stretch. Anywho, the nursery will be in the next issue of Adore magazine coming out NEXT WEEK!

I am struggling with lighting options for the nursery, a table lamp isn't really going to work as the chest of drawers it could sit on will be taken up by the change pad, a floor lamp could be a bit of a hazard in the near future and there are no dimmers on the halogens! I am leaning toward a neon sign so it's safely on the wall taking up no room. Let me start by saying though I don't want any of these words pictured, I am trying to think of something a little more original :) I do love love love the Melbourne clothing shop Le Lourve's typography and I know this is going to cost more (of course) This clever UK company The Letter Room has an easy option of buying letter by letter, I would be forever grateful if someone knew of an easy option in Sydney, I'm open to other wall lighting options too if you have any other suggestions

3 preggers update

So when I say pregnancy update I actually mean nursery update. This is what I have so far. IKEA drawers are on their way, cot (got), rugs (got), throw (obvs), mobile (came all the way from Paris), cardboard graffiti stool (purch'd on weekend from Top3) and chair (got). I will also assure you I have got some boring stuff like onsesie's etc but they're not nearly as fun to write about, surely? Plus a quick update to say I'm over 7 months now, officially on the down hill run and in the 3rd trimester. Thoughts that I actually have to get this kid out of me are becoming a little too real and I am doing my best to keep them at bay with nicer thoughts of Missoni lumbar cushions (is that really abnormal?) The countdown is on to finishing work too! Only 9 more weeks to go

I have decided on the IKEA Hemnes chest of 3 drawers for the kidlets room and have also chosen the new drawer handles, the carved horn panther heads below from Mother of Pearl

Is there anything else fun I can do to make it less generic that doesn't make them too DIY? I know most people will suggest Overlays, I think these are my only options there though and I don't think it will suit the style of the nursery. So any other suggestions are gratefully welcomed! I would kind of like to do something dramatic like this below (via here) but I would probably stuff it up, anything easier you can think of?

I spied L'Wren Scott's cream wool boucle sofa when it was published in Vogue in 2012 and knew in my heart of hearts that this was but a pipe dream (I want kids so that rules it out immediately), fancy then Jules and I trying out 'feeding chairs' and finding the most comfortable heavenly chair that ever did exist then looking at the price tag and realising that this was a little a lot over budget, thank you Saarinen Womb chair. Fancy further that the next day when I was at my favourite haunt Mitchell Road Antiques that there, smack bang, dead centre of the shop is a cream wool boucle Womb chair, and it's a third of the price. Queue heart quickening and credit card whipping out. SOLD! and firmly ensconced in the nursery awaiting a good scotch guard. I think I may have some kind of furniture fairy overing over me

Things claudia needs to let go of: having a pink nursery. Yes, I'm have a boy. My fantasy of soft pinky salmon and grey colour schemes are gone. Kaput. Over. I'm going to have to start re focusing on the possibilities. Sorry but blue doesn't do anything for me (unless it's denim or nautical stripes, bien sur). I'm going to indulge my loss in a sea of images dedicated to the loverly blush hue

I LOVE a good challenge but I think this one has me stumped. Alice heard I wanted a mobile for the nursery and told me about Mecca Cosmetica in Chatswood's own creation. I went in there on the weekend but of course, it's custom made in Melbourne.  I have contacted my husband's cousin who is a prop/set designer for movies and TV and he's on the case for me but I'm not holding my breath for something this marvellous. Someone on Instagram kindly told me about Puka Puka mobiles (below)

But is it massive enough? This is how I usually work, I start with a small idea (this mobile from Pottery Barn Kids) and then it gets bigger and more extravagant. Then Alice shows me this...

0 nursery thoughts

When I was in Hobart we visited Salamanca markets and my MIL pointed out these Japanese HiiRagi (Japanese Robot Army) toys. All handmade in Tassie from wool felt, I'm pretty into the occupational force guy. I did have an idea in my head of what I wanted the nursery to look like (black and white with hints of gold) but feel like this makes me want to go in another direction! How bad is that, a toy can change my entire vision... does the Japanese Robot Army really go with an Hermes blanket? I guess it would go with this chair I am lusting after (who would have thought I would lust after a rocker chair!) I also need a chest of drawers. I like these below from Incy Interiors but think I want something more modern. Maybe I will get some IKEA and do a hack.
