1 lindsey adelman {lighting}

"Lindsey Adelman designs and produces lighting in Manhattan. Inspired by structural forms found in nature, as well as the visual tension that results from mixing hand-blown glass with machine-made metal parts, her signature chandeliers  have made her one of the most in-demand lighting designers in America"

I have been dying to use her lighting for ages and I might just have found the perfect project for it! My favourites are the Agnes chandelier (above), the totem pendant (below), and the curiosity objects (below below), view the full range here

3 neon signs

I am struggling with lighting options for the nursery, a table lamp isn't really going to work as the chest of drawers it could sit on will be taken up by the change pad, a floor lamp could be a bit of a hazard in the near future and there are no dimmers on the halogens! I am leaning toward a neon sign so it's safely on the wall taking up no room. Let me start by saying though I don't want any of these words pictured, I am trying to think of something a little more original :) I do love love love the Melbourne clothing shop Le Lourve's typography and I know this is going to cost more (of course) This clever UK company The Letter Room has an easy option of buying letter by letter, I would be forever grateful if someone knew of an easy option in Sydney, I'm open to other wall lighting options too if you have any other suggestions

0 the professionals {bec brittain}

When I eventually own my own home and can go nuts with permanent fixtures I can foresee a real problem with lighting. Bec Brittain and her designs are nearly wholly responsible for this. The 33 year old Brooklyn based designer has been churning out futuristic designs since 2011, each one more spectacular than the last. Check them out!

0 the light

My latest op shop find - this large Hermes orange gourd lamp - $20 score. It's not ceramic so not as heavy as you would expect, I think she fits perfectly in with the new surrounds.

I also found this marble lamp base at Salvo's which I thought was going to take pride of place on le desk but when I found the big fat orange he got relegated to the holiday cupboard. I'm going to find a nice black shade to go with it.

1 the classics {the oluce atollo 233}

With the arrival of my new desk edging ever so close I have begun to think about the lamp. The Oluce Atollo 233 lamp designed by Vico Magistretti in 1977 has been on my wish list for a while now, I'm feeling classic black. Then I could get a black chair to match. I love the simple design of the Atollo, no fuss, just good light...

A girlfriend of mine, Kate has an obsession with Serge Mouille lights and has just recently placed an order for one of her very own. These bad boys pop up in near every edition of AD and all those other fancy interior magazines in homes belonging to fancy Europeans. Here is a selection of them in their natural habitats.

In Sydney you ca purchase them from Corporate Culture

0 a facet a day: ben-tovim design

I haven't done one of these posts in a while have I? This sudden need to revisit was brought on reading this months Real Living magazine when I spied these lights from Ben-Tovim Design. They are called 'Rough Diamond Pendants' and also come in a table lamp, aren't they dreamy? Heaven on a stick...

4 brush strokes

doing my daily scroll through instagram and thefigintherose alerted me to this lamp on beige and burlap's page. she seems to be a bunny williams look-a-like (sans gold base) and boy is she pretty. kate thinks i should make it a 'March DIY', i actually have a lamp that's similar in shape, remember this one?

it has 3 spheres and is quite big with a mushroom coloured shade. i wonder how much i would ruin it if i hated the result? dare i? or should i wait until i find a less expensive lamp op shopping and test it out first? especially considering i schlepped this one all the way back from queenstown...
