I ordered this screen print on the left from Kate Banazi and knew the perfect compliment would be a big bold pinky, which Kate kindly custom made for me. The size of the art makes the room feel so much bigger. If you are interested in Kate's art you can peruse the range here.

2 artist {yrjo edelmann}

Oil on canvas people! These are not photographs. The artist is Finland born Yrjo Edelmann whose work is 'located in the territory between dream and experience' in order to 'delude the eye of the observer by conjuring forth a trompe-l’oeil image'. I think these are beyond as is his talent, I'm always so impressed with people who are able to trick the eye in such creative ways. Very clever.

0 tassie part two

A well as the wildlife and historical aspects of Tasmania, there are some spectacular designs aspects too. In Launceston we visited the Design Centre (above and below). We ate at a fab restaurant called The Black Cow, delicious.

We then travelled right down to Hobart and of course, conquered MONA. That place is insane and the owner who was getting married there that evening actually lives on site, can you imagine!?

Hubert Duprat was my favourite exhibit. The massive crystal sculpture, big faceted rock and paintings were giving me heart palpitations as you can imagine!

More of Hubert's delights above (and SIL Alice photo bombing). Below was a massive fountain that dropped down sheets of water words

and one of my favourite parts? The owners reserved car spaces

The markets were on that day and I found this hat. The look on Jules face really says it all, right? I'm kind of depressed I didn't buy it now. Why do bloody husbands need to have opinions that we occasionally listen to?

On the way out of Hobart we found this gorgeous little town called Richmond which happened to have the first ever bridge built in Australia, they also have the most exquisite antique shop I have been in. Take these whale bones (couldn't exactly fit those in the carry on)

I hope you enjoyed this little holiday wrap up. I would highly recommend going. If you can, stay in Battery Point and eat at Da Angelo's - best family run Italian I have ever eaten!

0 the professionals {bill sampson}

Being an avid 'The Block' viewer who loves to cringe at their bad taste and gets over joyed when they make good designing decisions I was palpitating over the art Kara and Kyle chose for the hotel room challenge this week. The artist is Australian Bill Sampson, one who is "Using and abusing a technique known as marbling, Sampson pours thin skeins of paint onto the skin-like surface of water then lets the paint take over, spooling in all directions with reckless assertion; little motors of churning colour." Click here to read a candid interview on ArtsHub and here to view more of his work at MARS gallery

I love a minimal painting and these graphic black and white numbers are making me redecorate my lounge room in my head. The artist is Al Held, an American abstract expressionist painter who died in 2005. His work is now found in the homes of some fancy peeps including Reed Krakoff (two below) Click here to read more about Al (I also saw this artwork in September Lonny from another artist that looks suspiciously alike...)

The artist is Shane Bowden and it's aptly called 'Bling Baby Bling', it measures 95x95cm and is an original hand pulled silk screen full gold glitter background (lacquered glossy look) and retails for $1000. I am selling it for $600, please contact me if you are interested
