2 hello horsey

my girlfriend zoie and i went horse riding at glenworth valley last week, i have been dying to get back into riding after a 10 year hiatus (i owned a horse for the better part of my childhood and teens) and luckily i hadn't seem to have lost my confidence, although i was scared just before i had to mount, my horse stanley was HUGE

it felt really good to be back riding again if not a little painful, my knees were crazy sore during the ride but fine after wards

me on stanley left and zoie on astro right.

shame - there were no eggs in sight for me to pillage from the emu's...

if you're in sydney glenworth valley is a really great place to ride, quiet and scenic only a short drive out of sydney

6 oh em gee

these guys are best friends and carmen told us they would be BFF for life - how freakin' cute! they groom each other every day

i thought all my birthday surprises were done and dusted until jules told me on sunday after a delicious brekky that i still had one more. he was taking me to a miniature horse stud to play with tiny horses. of course i promptly burst out in tears because i have been wanting to do that for ever and i was so surprised that he thought to do that for me. these mini horses were honestly the sweetest little things! the foals were only 20kg and teeny weeny, you can't really tell until a human is standing next to them how teeny they actually are.

they had the most amazing manes and forelocks - overgrown and shaggy with colour i would pay for!

and just down the road? the rebels head quarters - behind the first fence are about 6 miniature horses standing guard!

the very eclectic home of the very creative alex zabotto-bentley (director of AZB Creative) as seen on design sponge's sneak peek. it's a bit of a mixed bag, and i quite like that, some french antique, some modern art, some hugely masculine pieces and some feminine, i think it works pretty well. i love the spaces that you can tell were not over styled or designed, it really looks like it's full of stuff that he loves and it didn't really matter whether or not it all worked (maybe it did matter but it doesn't look contrived to me) i am pretty keen on that aaron kinnane horse painting and the little chinoiserie garden stool. click on over to design sponge to read the commentary on each piccy if you wish!

firstly, sorry for the low res pic above, i tried to find better to no avail! did anyone else see these cushions in the home of real housewife of new york kelly killoren bensimon on fashion hunters? i am ALL for repurposing an hermes scarf, but do you think they would get ruined being lay on all the time? regardless, i love them and have a huge hermes scarf that has been laying in a box unused for years which i would love to get some use out of. any suggestions for what fabric to back it with?

in my search for some better images of her place i came across this one below - a horse in the living room and a hot pink couch? this is my kind of girl

3 the professionals: anselm reyle

i was reading this months vogue and an article on anselm reyle immediately caught my eye, horse - check, neon - check. the article quotes him saying "i am interested in irritating the viewers eye" - definitely not mine, i read on and discovered he has done a collaboration with dior creating some neon camo bags (eww) debuting at miami's art basel. click here to peep some more of his work from a previous show at the CFA berlin

where do i start? the moooi horse lamp? the framed hermes scarves? the orchids? the rooms full of visionaire? the home of interior designer yasumichi morita as captured by the selby is a total drool fest. and speaking of framed hermes scarves, mine is at the framers as we speak, so look forward to seeing her all framed up very soon...

i had a horse most of my childhood, a chestnut arab. i was horse crazy - going to horse camps in the holidays and covering my year books and bedroom walls in magazine tears. nowdays i prefer something a little more grown up and since i dont have a horse anymore i am looking to interiors for my equine fix. of course there is the Mooi horse lamp but i dont live in an aeroplane hanger so that's not an option. i'm thinking maybe a huge photo, although i do stil have some florence broadhurst horses stampede leftover from my bedroom at my parents house...
