15 some news

So - there is a new room that needs decorating in my apartment and - as you can already see below - you can guess what room that might be. I'm very excited (as excited as I can be while feeling like I have the worlds worst hangover 24 hours a day) to announce I'm preggers. Now what does one do when they finally get through that first 3 months? Purchase essential nursery items of course! So you're thinking the cot or change table... not for me. I went straight to the source of my joy - Hermes. One baby H blanket in noisette later and I'm feeling like I've got all my bases covered. Lucky I have my first hospital appointment this week so they can confirm how wise this first purchase was. At least I have a starting off point to build on right? I promise I will not turn this into a babies adventures blog but I just may sneak in a few nursery decorating updates.

Seeing this little creep inside me for the first time was very overwhelming, having been trying for so long it was a relief to know it was all real!

Hoorah to my ovaries for finally cooperating!

0 room swoon

Reason number 698 I need an Hermes Avalon blanket = Taylor Tomasi Hill lying in bed swathed in said blanket with that insane backdrop and giant flowers to match the hair.

Okay, so the walls, recreate with Eskayel's Dynasty wallpaper (exact match), use imported French linen from Honeybee or Cultiver, add your Hermes Avalon blanket and get going on some crepe paper DIY via Martha Stewart

Then go and check out TTH as she takes over at GOOP.

0 op shopping

I feel like I haven't been on my game lately, although I did find that orange gourd lamp, but still I feel like the volume has decreased. Maybe I'm being more fussy when it comes to op shopping? I am on my way to getting the shop part of my website up and running, there will be a part for Closet Cleanouts, home wares which will be called Chateau and also styling services. I am excited to get more out of my blog and hopefully share some of my finds with you all. But I digress, I found this sweet little green vessel at Salvos, it reminded me so much of the movie Return to Oz when she goes into the room and has to touch everything shaded emerald to save all her friends. The scarf was a consignment shop find, so a little bit cheaty for this post but still a bargain! The Vinnies sofa below is still dancing around in my head. The shape was FAB and the batik print would be oh so right in the right girls home, I can just see some magenta velvet throw cushions on there...

0 the tease

A trip to Hermes is pretty much my all time favorite trip on earth, whether it's Sydney, Hawaii (all 3 stores), Changi Airport or Rodeo Drive. Sitting down to try on the collier de chien rings, testing the new fragrances, lusting over the cashmere and fantasizing over the future place settings you will get (maybe that stays in fantasy). You are given thick catalogs, posters of the new collections, basically treated like a very rich lady. It's even more exciting when you get to walk out with a very heavy bag. You know what's in heavy Hermes bags? Well, I don't get to enjoy this heavy spoil for a little while, so the unwrapping process ended in a trip to the cupboard until my birthday, OUCH

1 hermes/furniture

i was looking for some coffee table inspiration for hannah's living room in her new house when i came across hermes furniture (how did miss this?). after the reissue by jean-michel frank in november 2010 they showed their first collection of contemporary furniture co designed by hermes and Enzo Mari, Antonio Citterio, Denis Montel and Eric Benqué during 2011 milan design week. this oval marble table (above) was photographed by michael baumgarten and i am obsessed with it.

the pippa chair, designed by rena dumas (wife of hermes ex-chairman jean-louis dumas)

this desk is another re design of franks by hermes and eric benque

3 kelly bensimon/those cushions

firstly, sorry for the low res pic above, i tried to find better to no avail! did anyone else see these cushions in the home of real housewife of new york kelly killoren bensimon on fashion hunters? i am ALL for repurposing an hermes scarf, but do you think they would get ruined being lay on all the time? regardless, i love them and have a huge hermes scarf that has been laying in a box unused for years which i would love to get some use out of. any suggestions for what fabric to back it with?

in my search for some better images of her place i came across this one below - a horse in the living room and a hot pink couch? this is my kind of girl

0 the ultimate find...almost

okay, so, as i have mentioned before i love going to thrift shops, and i have my personal favorites that i visit monthly at least, and every time i walk in i think today is going to be the day that i find something AMAZING (and i usually do find great stuff) but my ultimate find was always an hermes ashtray. i knew my chances of finding this were slim to none, but today it happened. I FOUND ONE! at first i saw it all hidden behind other vases and plates and thought, hmmm that looks a little exciting, then i picked it up and thought wow, who has knocked off this design so well? i turned it over and had heart failure...hermes paris. i looked again and saw the price...$3. wow. i hadn't looked properly at it due to intense excitement so after i had calmed down i noticed the design was not really one i would want displayed at my place (although i can appreciate how someone else would)....

sure it has a few chips (any hints as to how to fix this?) but still, i found an hermes ashtray at goodwill for $3. yay me

0 second chance

hermes has found an adorable way to re use the leather and other materials deemed not good enough to make it to retail - the petit h collection. from deer to giant pandas and alligator coffee cup holders - all limited edition of course. they are created by artists in collaboration with veteran hermes craftsmen (the first aussie to be asked was paper engineer benja harney from paperform) catch it when you can as it's a traveling exhibit.

dying to get my mits on this set of books. photographer koto bolofo was the first person allowed full access to the hermes workshops and he certainly took his time - the 11 volume beauty took over 8 years to complete. hopefully it was well worth the wait! they are on sale in hermes now.
