2 new work

This is my latest project - a Potts Point apartment bedroom makeover for a friend who is a sexologist (hence the erotic artwork!) Shot of course by Hannah Blackmore Photography for Adore Magazine, click here to read the feature.

The bedhead, coverlet, console, bedsides and lamps are all West Elm

We started out with these quite feminine looks for the master (above and below) and have deviated quite a bit to a more masculine look

0 bedroom needs a new look

I hate my bed. I recently went on a grown ups shopping trip with a co-pregnant friend to buy a very grown up bed (see you later $5000) and came away with severe bed shame/envy. The ones we tried were so comfy and sink-y in it was almost embarrassing (we are both 7+ months pregnant and could barely keep our eyes open every time we lay down) It made going to bed that night a bad experience. I immediately went and changed all my linen and made a big fuss of old bed to try and make it more palatable but no such luck, she still squeaked and shook every time one of us rolled over (and let me tell you, me rolling over now is kind of like an small earthquake, especially as I have to reposition my DreamGenii pillow every time) Anyway, I digress, I now want a new bed which is probably not going to happen any time soon and I want new bedside tables. I am over not having any drawers to keep it looking clutter free and I am in need of new lamps too to go with the new look. I found these mid century modern's from West Elm which I am quite besotted with

Then while on their website found these nice simple lamps too

Add in some delicious Rachel Castle bed linen and this Missoni throw and I think I am good to go, is this what they call the nesting phase?

0 room swoon

Reason number 698 I need an Hermes Avalon blanket = Taylor Tomasi Hill lying in bed swathed in said blanket with that insane backdrop and giant flowers to match the hair.

Okay, so the walls, recreate with Eskayel's Dynasty wallpaper (exact match), use imported French linen from Honeybee or Cultiver, add your Hermes Avalon blanket and get going on some crepe paper DIY via Martha Stewart

Then go and check out TTH as she takes over at GOOP.

1 twin style

A lovely reader sent me this link to Elin Kling's apartment noticing that my room looks like hers. After adding in the pair of thrifted gold reading lamps I have to say I agree, although I am partial to a little colour on the bed. I also love that she has no bedside tables - so minimalist. You may be able to tell I barely have anything on mine and could probably do without them too!

The bed looks so much better below unmade! It's all about the linen, I am literally OBSESSED with my Cultiver bed linen, we don't have heating in our place yet and this linen makes it so warm and cosy we don't even need it. Jules and I have this thing where we are really quiet when we first get into bed so we can hear 'the noise' when we peel back the doona. You know that noise, Alice calls it the pure comfort noise, it's kind of like if you were to swipe your hand through a vat of aerated cream - HEAVEN. The raspberry velvet cushion is from Bednest as is the bedhead and for a little pattern I added my French Words pillowcases from ChipChop! I need new bedside lamps now that our old ones are out in the lounge room. That is going to be a hard choice but I do have my eye on these from Hyphenate

these are the two looks i did for bednest, the one one the left is the 'art' room and the right is the 'hollywood' room. i was lucky enough to be able to borrow some delicious goodies including the french word pillow cases from chipchop!, the cultiver bed linen, the table tonic Moroccan wedding blanket, the teal ceramic stool from FIG and the glass lamps from divine designs. and of course my home made faceted delights stack! don't you just want to jump into bed?

5 a nice surprise

is anyone watching the block? i have seen snippets here and there and after reading this months real living i was super surprised to see this bedroom was one of the rooms dan and dani produced on the show. i love that deep blue wall, the abstract artwork from fenton and fenton and that jewelled cushion and bed linen - all from fenton and fenton which set them back a huge $3000, spending big on bed linen really made the world of difference - i am obsessing over rough linen at the moment but it is very costly. that little pendant light is 'the beat light' from tom dixon, who i blogged about a few days ago. this room has got me sucked in, i just might tune in again!
