2 sheepies and fur

pics: carolinesmodetheselby, unknown

fur (real or faux) makes rooms more textural and glamorous, whether it is thrown nonchalantly on the bed/couch or artfully placed on each dining chair it instantly changes the room and - sorry PETA and HB - makes it more sexy...

1 shoes

i used to be obsessed with shoes. i would get miss louise to send polaroids of new season shoes and within days the new leopard dolce and gabbana's would be at my doorstep. i actually cringe when i think about that now. over the years i have donated, sold and chucked ALOT of my shoes. the only men standing from those days are my gold miu miu high tops (pic to come) and black patent miu miu peep toes because they are so comfy and don't seem to show wear. if i still cared about shoes like i used to my fantasy shoe storage would probably look something like the above - so fresh and organised (and i am the organisation FREAK). FYI the only shoes i wear now are ballet flats, sneaks, a pair of
topshop wedges and my CR bottines - i stopped caring so much about shoes when i realised i could be spending my money on home wares!

0 table work

its rude that i haven't posted some heavy table work yet. its my favourite past time - thinking about how much an Hermes ash tray or orange lacquer tray would make my table TEN times better. i am lucky enough to have friends who work in homeware stores, one of which stocks the tray in 4th pic down - needless to say its nearly mine. when HB comes around soon i can post some pics of my table work. maybe not as impressive as the above but getting there...

4 bookshelf

pics: the selby and flickr

i have a small bookshelf, nothing to brag about. due to lack of storage i usually end up donating books or storing them in my parents garage. i cant wait to live in a house with some big ass built in book shelves. in my fantasy i would colour code for the rainbow bookshelf look. i recently saw a crate of vintage penguin crime books in a forest-y green colour at a Salvation Army store on the northern beaches - i wish i got a bunch to start my collection. take a peep of my shelf work.

0 in the pink

pink is one of those colours that i struggle with - especially the attention grabbing hues around at the moment. as mentioned before, my study has MANY hints of pink and i recently tried to sneak in a neon pink ipad case (shared with the BF) to no avail - it's now gone to a better home. its quite easy for me to use pink in my home - flowers, prints, cushions etc but with fashion it becomes more difficult. the girls pictured are very deliberate in their attention grabbing garb and there is part of me that is envious of their boldness but even when i have purchased the odd pink confection, to date, none have really made it out of the closet. i think i will stick to my clumps of pink pencils,
kelly wearstler mac background and prints and leave the fashion to the pros.

0 product

now that i am 30 i am really aware of what is happening to my skin and i want to do the best i can with the best products i can. i have one person to thank for my product obsession, hannah. she has always been on top of the absolute newest and best products. once, when i asked about a product i had seen in a magazines 'beauty awards' section, she laughed at me telling me that only suckers believe those articles and that it is all the advertisers products. she has since schooled me in what actually works and what is all hype.

besides the actual function of the product, there is the packaging to discuss. nothing gets my heart racing as much as good packaging. for me, diptyque is the absolute pinnacle of packaging and my cabinet is chock full of empty candle cups (baies is my scent of choice) full of brushes, glosses, cutips and cotton pads. as hannah will attest to,  i also love a good scientific package e.g. egyptian magic or the old terax packaging are my picks.

once i get hannah around for another photo session i will add pics of my bathroom cabinet.

3 house envy: unhealthy obsession

pics: selby

i have an unhealthy obsession with Julia Restoin Roitfeld's apartment. don't get me started on the minimal nature of the place, the wooden floors, the marble table tops, the wardrobe and the vuitton throw. but weirdly, i am actually most obsessed with her bathroom cabinet. lucky for me Into The Gloss
did one of her 'top shelf' posts on Julia - an even closer look into her makeup/beauty routine. i think that deserves a post of its own...
