3 JULIA deVILLE

i was introduced to New Zealnd native Julia deVille's work through Hayley Smith, creator of Serpent and the Swan who is obsessed with
mourning jewellry. Julia has been fascinated with the macabre from young age, hence the name of her label 'Disce Mori' from the Latin phrase meaning 'learning to die'. her subjects are deceased, taxidermic animals mostly donated or found by deVille herself. on offer are a deceased bird with diamond eyes, a blue feathered wing brooch, a mouse with sterling silver tail and the most amazing, a rabbit with sterling silver rib cage and ruby hanging as the heart. you have to see it for yourself! here are a few of her more wearable pieces...

  2. I've seen this amazing work before but have never seen this much of her work. I love a skull and a little bit of 'stop-you-in-your-tracks' art! Thanks for the link, I'll definitely explore more!
