1 hawaii bound

I am going to Hawaii in September for my mother in law's 60th birthday. I've never been before and I am very keen to know the best places to shop besides the Ala Moana Centre. Anyone been and have any good recommendations? Any home wares/furniture shopping I can work into this trip? We are staying on Waikiki Beach for the whole trip and will probably drive around the island, any tips? Secret waterfalls etc?

  1. I had a friend that lived out in the Ko'Olina resort, and I flew out there for her wedding. If you can get into the lagoons over there-- they are GORGEOUS! Much less crowded than the beaches along Waikiki. Also, the North Shore was a ton of fun, they some gorgeous beaches up there (we ran into some giant sea turtles there when we went) and is home to the Shrimp Shack (I think that's what it's called?) which is BOMB. Really... well, the whole island is pretty amazing (although the West side is a little sketchy, we found an Orchid Farm to visit on that side that was pretty spectacular) I would suggest (if you have a car) that you take a trip around the whole island. The east side of the island is a little more jagged and twisty, but the highway goes right up to the side of the landmass. It's pretty amazing. I have some amazing pictures of the whole island. Shopping wise, there's the street of dreams or whatever in Downtown, but there's a flea market I remember going to as well. Might have been out a ways from there. Definitely go to the Stadium (Hawaii Bowl? I think) flee market; I got a majority of my souvenirs there. If you have other questions, feel free to email me! I hope this helps some.

    Much Love,
    Trissta
